On Thursday, October 29 from 7:30 to 8:30 pm, Huthmaker Violins will host an opportunity to meet Elise. Refreshments will be served during this great  opportunity to talk with Elise about your dreams and concerns regarding the City of Duluth.

Elise`s Plan to Move Duluth Forward

Today, Elise had the opportunity to present more of her platform and plans for Duluth’s success at the Civitan Forum who hosted this event that included all three candidates for Post 3 Duluth City Council. She brought out the fact that the median age of Duluth citizens is 35.1 years, so it will be important for the City Council and Staff to think more multi-generational in their planning and moving forward process, while continuing to maintain and improve sports for youth, and providing a quality center for Seniors. Campaign Enters Home Stretch

Last week was an extremely busy one for my campaign. I attended a number of community events, knocked on doors and met with various community groups.

On Tuesday, I attended the Duluth Historical Society meeting at the Strickland House Museum where Professor Richard Rawls of Georgia Gwinnett College spoke. The event was part of the “Gwinnett Reads” book program. (more…)

Pooch Fest, Fun Day on Saturday

Join Elise on Saturday, October 24, for a fun-filled day at the Pooch Fest (Strickland House Museum) from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Be sure to catch the parade of pooches and proud owners at 1 pm. Elise will also stop in at the City of Duluth Community Fun Day, scheduled for 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Elise plans to attend the 11:00 am ribbon cutting for the Taylor Park playground and the unveiling of the city’s new logo and tagline on the Town Green—see the city web site for details and other events taking place on this historic day.

Elise to Face Challengers at Civitan Club Forum

On October 20, voters will have an opportunity to meet Elise and hear her positions on various issues when she participates in the Duluth Civitan Club forum. The event is scheduled for 11:45 a.m. at Kurt’s Restaurant. The cost is $15 for one person or $25 for two and includes lunch. For reservations, contact Terry Crouch at 678-242-0445.

Elise Attends First Engage Gwinnett Session

As an elected alternate, I attended the Engage Gwinnett plenary session and participated in discussions regarding the way forward on matters dealing with Gwinnett County’s budget.

On the Campaign Trail

Today, I attended a Kiwanis meeting at Kurt’s Restaurant and gained useful information regarding City of Duluth Police as they continue to serve and protect Duluth. Then it was off to Chocolate Perks for a meet the candidate night with yours truly.

Elise Serves on Duluth Fine Arts League Scholarship Committee

After a day of campaigning, I attended the Duluth Fine Arts League Scholarship Committee meeting led by Mary Buck where we discussed our mission and formulated a basic plan for moving forward. This proactive initiative will award two small scholarships to Duluth High School and Duluth Home School graduates who desire to further their education in the fine and performing arts profession.
