Elise Attends L.E.A.D. Program Meeting

Today I attended the first meeting of the second annual City of Duluth L.E.A.D. (Learn, Engage, Advance Duluth) program spearheaded by Council member Marsha Anderson Bomar and led by Alisa Williams.

2008 L.E.A.D. graduates

I am a graduate of the City of Duluth LEAD 2008 program. Because I believe this program to be a vital part of educating citizens regarding city government operations and processes and a catalyst for citizen engagement, I became one of the major sponsors of this program for the 2009 LEAD participants.

Through this program, citizens have the opportunity to learn about the various departments, city boards and committees, and community organization, thereby facilitating their potential active participation. This process was the first of several steps that enabled me to make an informed decision about serving on the Ethics Board and running for City Council.

For more information about the program, see this 2008 article at the city web site.
